According to Law 3850/2010 any employer, whether private or public, should employ at least one employee as a designated Consultant Safety Engineer. The hours that the Consultant Safety Engineer will be employed each year depend on the number of employees and the risk category to which the business belongs.

The Consultant Safety Engineer provides the employer with written and oral advice, as well as advice on Occupational Health and Safety issues and the prevention of accidents at work. Written instructions are given by the Consultant Safety Engineer in a special business book, which is issued by the relevant Department of Labor Inspection. The employer is obliged to obtain knowledge followed by his signature regarding the instructions contained in this book.

Consultant Safety Engineer's Tasks:

  • Consultancy on the design and planning of work, the procurement of equipment, the selection and control of personal protective equipment, the configuration of the environment and jobs.
  • Checking of the facility security, production processes and working methods.
  • Inspection on working conditions and the implementation of safety and accident prevention measures.
  • Informs workers about occupational risk.
  • Supervises fire and alarm exercises.
  • Participates in the design and implementation of training programs.
  • Investigates the causes of accidents.

The mentioned services are provided in the framework of visits by our Partner, the Consultant Safety Engineer, to the premises of the company, in accordance with the work program submitted to the Labor Inspectorate. The Consultant Safety Engineer communicates with the person in charge of the business and discusses with him or her the relevant instructions.
