Occupational Risk Assessment Study

According to Law 3805/2010, Article 43, every company operating either in the private or in the public sector, regardless of the number of employees and its activity, is obliged to keep the Occupational Risk Assessment updated.

The purpose of the study is:

  • Identify all possible sources of risk that could cause an occupational accident within the business.
  • Assess quantitatively the likelihood of each risk occurring, its severity, and the frequency of occurrence.
  • Check and evaluate the completeness of the measures available to the company.
  • Record risks and ways of dealing with them in order to make it easier for employees to deal with them.
  • Propose actions and measures, if necessary, to eliminate risk.

The Occupational Risk Assessment Study is one of the most important tools of the company for the prevention and management of risks in the work environment and consequently for the prevention of accidents at work.

ATEX Study || Explosion Protection Document

According to PD 42/2003 the employer is required to have an Explosion Protection Document for his business. This decree requires a comprehensive address of the risk of explosive atmospheres in facilities and workplaces and stipulates that employers must:

  • take organizational and technical measures to prevent the creation of explosive atmospheres
  • take measures to avoid ignition and measures to mitigate the harmful effects of an explosion
  • assess the risks due to explosive atmospheres
  • classify ZONES as places where explosive atmospheres can be created
  • appropriately label the spaces with the warning sign Ex
  • lay down technical and organizational measures for explosion protection

For the preparation of the ATEX Study it is necessary to measure the installations carried out by a special QRAE II type gas-detector instrument: PGM-2400

Emergency Management Plan

The preparation of the Emergency Management Plan (EMP) is a legal obligation of the employer (Law 3850/2010, article 30, par. 1) and at the same time the most effective method for dealing with situations that may endanger the lives of employees.

The EMP contains:

  • Preventive Measures to be taken for all emergency situations like earthquake, fire, terrorist actions etc.
  • Organizing the members of the Emergency Management and Fire Protection Team as well as the detailed recording of their duties.
  • The procedures to be followed by the Team Members and all employees in case of such events.

Part of the Emergency Management Plan are exercises which, together with training, are proposed to be held at least once a year.

The Emergency Management Plan along with the corresponding training are the only ways that are capable of protecting the Human Resources as well as the business from the consequences of an emergency.
