ADR (Accord Dangereux Routier) is the European Agreement on the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road.

As dangerous are considered the goods which are dangerous to the health and safety of the public in the workplace, in the workplace and in the adjacent premises. The list of these goods is set out in Part 3 of the A.D.R. Agreement and their transfer shall be permitted only under the conditions laid down in the Agreement.

Some examples of such goods are explosives, corrosive, radioactive. oxidizing materials, flammable liquids and gases, gasoline, kerosene, natural gas, oxygen, nitrogen, pressure gas, clinical waste, pesticides, pesticides etc.

Companies whose activities include the carriage of dangerous goods by road or the packing, loading / unloading or filling of dangerous goods by road shall be required to designate a Safe Carriage Consultant for Dangerous Goods, responsible for contributing to the people, property and the environment. The Safe Carriage Consultant is the link between the business and the control bodies.

The tasks of the Safe Carriage Consultant include:

  • procedures for observing the rules for the identification of transported dangerous goods.
  • inspection procedures for the material used to transport dangerous goods or for unloading operations.
  • appropriate training of staff, recorded in their file, as well as verification of whether staff involved in the transport of dangerous goods or their unloading are aware of the execution procedures and detailed instructions.
  • implementing appropriate emergency procedures in the event of accidents or incidents that may affect safety during the transport of dangerous goods or during unloading operations.
  • analysis and reporting of accidents, incidents or serious violations found during the transport of dangerous goods or during loading and unloading operations, as well as the implementation of appropriate measures to avoid the recurrence of accidents, incidents or serious violations.
  • taking into account the legislative requirements and the particular requirements relating to the transport of dangerous goods when selecting and using subcontractors or other intermediaries but also when purchasing means of transport in relation to the dangerous goods transported.
  • apply inspection methods to ensure that the documents and safety equipment required to accompany the transport and conformity of those documents and equipment with the relevant arrangements are in place and at the same time ensure compliance with the relevant rules in loading and unloading actions.
